Are you looking for resources to help you teach (or learn) about the human ear, its structure and function, causes of deafness and deaf awareness? If so, you’ve come to the right place!
Teaching resources on the human ear, deafness and Deaf awareness
We are pleased to share this set of specially-designed teaching resources that are aimed at students in Year 9 and fit within the Science curriculum. They could potentially also be used for any group throughout KS3 and KS4, probably as part of a PSHE curriculum.
This pack of resources is designed to help support the teaching of Deaf awareness to secondary age children. Lessons can be altered to suit either timetabled PSHE lessons or to fit shorter tutor-based sessions. We have included some guidance on how the resources could be used but the resources have been designed to be flexible and used as teachers see fit.
About these teaching resources
These teaching resources support the teaching of:
- Lesson 1: the human ear, its structure and the function of each part
- Lesson 2: causes of deafness and Deaf awareness
These resources were developed by a teacher and his partner – whose two deaf children attended our preschool services. The resources were piloted in Year 9 lessons.
